RoughRiders Strong at Bat on Revenue, Profitability

The Frisco RoughRiders are starting the season as the defending national champion in one very important category: The team generated more revenue than any other minor-league baseball team last year.


Dr Pepper Park.jpgThe Double A Texas League team had sales of $13.5 million last year, according to a source close to the team's owners. Nationwide, minor league baseball teams averaged sales of $5 million last year.

The RoughRiders also ranked second nationally for its profitability, according to the same source.

While RoughRiders President Scott Sonju wouldn't confirm any figures, he did acknowledge that his club ranks second in profits out of 176 minor league teams in the United States.
