TAMPA, Fla. - February 20, 2008 - Switch and Data (NASDAQ: SDXC), a leading provider of Internet exchange and co-location services, announced today at the Game Developers Conference that Michael Bowen, former Vice President of Sony Online Entertainment has been appointed Vice President of Technology. Mr. Bowen has more than 16 years experience with operations and technology within the online gaming, IP route optimization, Internet and hosting services, and content delivery network environments

Switch and Data recently announced the creation of a Content and Entertainment practice, led by David Reitman, to assist digital media and online gaming companies design, develop, and deploy infrastructure solutions to support their business growth. Mr. Bowen's deep understanding of the unique technical needs of these industries will be instrumental in furthering the goals of this practice.
Mr. Bowen previously led the Operations and Operational Engineering Group at Sony Online Entertainment (SOE), the creator of innovative multiplayer online games which include: EverQuest I®, EverQuest II®, StarWars®, Galaxies, Vanguard, and PlanetSide as well as the recent PlayStation3® network platform.
Prior to Sony Online, Bowen was a founding team member of IP route optimization company netVmg, whose technology was acquired by InterNap. Before that he was a Senior Scientist at Excite@Home focusing on the development of the company's content distribution strategy.
Bowen began his Internet career with CERFnet, a national tier-one ISP, which was acquired by AT&T in 1998. During his seven year tenure with the company, Mr. Bowen provided leadership to the team responsible for launching the technical and operational platform that supported AT&T's Enterprise Hosting Service.
Mr. Bowen serves as a Technical Advisor to a number of Internet companies, on operations, technology innovations, designs, and philosophies.
